How to Throw a Killer Bachelorette Party

It goes without saying that one of the most exciting things to look forward to after getting engaged {besides the wedding, of course!} is planning the bachelorette party! I’m a total girl’s girl and I’m beyond #blessed to have a large, amazing group of girlfriends. We often find any and every reason to get together to celebrate each other. Anything from finishing her 1st semester of grad school, promotions, engagements, or Galentine’s day! But I know this is not the case in every friend group. Sadly, there are only a few built-in events that focus on celebrating female friendships..meaning it is essential to make sure your bride-to-be bestie has a killer bachelorette party!! In honor of leaving for Vegas this Friday for my friend Shauna’s bachelorette, let’s do this!!

how to plan a killer bachelorette party

If you’re anything like me, you can agree that there is nothing better than a champagne filled weekend with your ladies. With thoughts of planning summer weddings in full swing & engagements happening what seems to be every weekend,  I thought it would be fun to share some festive ideas to ensure your bride-to-be girlfriend has the best “last fling before the ring” imaginable 🙂

First things first, I want to draw attention to this genius new platform, The Bach. Here you will find excellent tips for bridesmaids to plan the ultimate bachelorette party, seriously check it out! Depending on your city, The Bach will customize an itinerary of the must do’s! I would suggest not involving the bride in every detail- surprises make it fun and she has enough on her plate with planning the wedding.

Guide to Planning a Killer Bachelorette Party:

  1. Pick a killer location: Whether you decide on a destination weekend or staying local with a night out in your city, there are so many options for every budget! Keep in mind that the bachelorette party doesn’t need to be obnoxiously expensive or far away to be an amazing time 🙂 It’s also important to plan a party/location that fits what the bride would love!
    1. Destination: Vegas, Miami, Nashville and San Juan, PR are some of the most popular for destination celebrations.  I often find that renting a house or condo from VRBO can save a ton of $$ in comparison to hotels. Having a kitchen also gives you the option to cook instead of eating out every meal. And come on how much more fun is it to all stay together!?
    2. Staying local: If staying close to home is more within budget, a spa day, dinner & dancing, crashing the pool at a hotel or pole dancing class could all be a blast!  The most important thing to remember is that it isn’t where you are, it’s who you’re with that matter most 🙂
  2. Send out Printed Invitations: I talked about my love for sending thank you notes in this post and my thoughts on printed invitations are no different! The biggest thing to keep in mind when choosing invitations is to make sure they coincide with the bride’s personality and the theme {if there is one}. Send out invites about 4-6 weeks prior to ensure sure everyone has it on their calendars. This sequin invite from Zazzle is perfect for the glam bride! I discovered Zazzle while looking for glittery business cards- I decided on this and could not be more obsessed! For the more classic bride I’d suggest going with thisYou can never go wrong with Etsy!
  3. Customize the decorations: Whether you’re decorating the hotel suite/rental house, the dining room at the hostess’s house or out at a venue, decorations will really bring the party to life! I’m a big fan of customized decorations that show you put in the extra effort to show the bride she’s one of a kind! Here are some ideas..
    1. Gold letter balloonsBalloons are a great way to fill in empty space and really make a statement. Spell out “BRIDE” or “MRS. __” for that extra touch. I found these balloons at my local Party City! {see how I’ve used them here}
    2. Monogrammed desserts This is such a fun way to incorporated the bride’s soon to be new last name in yummy treats!
  4. Give favors-Bridesmaids and friends of the bride took time and spent money to attend the celebration, make sure to show your appreciation! These mini bottles of champagne are the perfect gift to get the party started!
  5. Use Fun Accessories:
    1. Temporary Tattoos: To ensure you don’t lose anyone in your party, temporary tattoos are the answer.  I’m loving these washable from Tats4nowDaydream Prints  & Love & Lion– all from Etsy! This “if I’m lost please buy me a drink” can be customized to the name of the bachelorette herself. They also make for memorable favors, just make sure to wash it off before returning to the office Monday 😉

Fun Ideas:

  1. Hire a professional photographer: If there’s bandwidth in the budget, hiring a professional photographer to follow the party around for the night is such a great idea! There’s only so much you can capture with your iPhone camera, professional photos make the fun moments even more special & can be the perfect keepsake for the bride. It also lets you put away your phone for the night and really live in the moment!! Plus, it doesn’t hurt to feel like celebrities for the night 😉
  2. Include the groom: Make the bride feel loved x583725 by encouraging the groom to send something special to the location so it’s waiting for her when she arrives. A bouquet of flowers, champagne on ice or chocolate covered strawberries with a sweet card would ensure to put an even bigger smile on her face 🙂
  3. Use a creative #hashtag: Hashtags are an amazing way to have everyone’s photos in one place on social media. Try to incorporate the bride’s soon to be new last name, the destination or even keep it as simple as #kimsvegasbachelorette, for example.  Check out this website to help generate something creative if nothing comes to mind organically!

As important as it is to plan the party & add details, make sure you don’t OVER plan! Bachelorette parties should be a time for true girl time and celebrating the bride with your favorite gals! I would love to hear about awesome bachelorette parties you have planned/attended!

Thanks for much for stopping by!

With love & sequins, Tess

I got the idea when I was at a cat cafe in Thailand and they SERVED ALCOHOL. I was like whaaat??! Officially on my bucket list now. Btw if you’re ever going to Thailand or somewhere tropical but don’t know what to wear then here are a few posts to help you out:
