Shorts: Madewell | Tank: Old Navy | Sandals: Last Call | Hat: Target | Handbag: Phillip Lim

I’m sure at this point you’re asking yourself “does Tess own/wear anything besides dresses!?” Surprisingly, there is a tall stack at the top of my closet that I always forget about but after rocking these badboys I’ve made it a mission to incorporate my shorts into my weekend uniform!

Now a days it’s a rare sight to witness me not wearing a dress but that wasn’t always the case. Growing up I was a total tomboy {shocker I know!}. My mom’s friends only had boys meaning most of my “play time” was spent with a pack of 6-7 sports loving males.  All summer we would go camping where we rode our bikes everywhere & I would come home with dirty fingernails {I’m cringing at the memory} and my tomboy self thought it was super cool to wear a daily uniform of Adidas indoor soccer shoes, wind pants and a Patriots jersey. This happened until around 5th grade when I discovered gel pens and bubble shirts..who remembers those!? They were the coolest!!#90skid. And ever since then I’ve been a sequin loving lady!  Were any of you former tomboys growing up!?

Hope you enjoyed that little blast from the past story time- now onto todays outfit. I had such an amazing response to this look on Instagram I figured I’d do an entire post on it. These shorts are hand down the most comfortable pair I own. I’m talking you feel like you’re wearing pj’s comfortable {without the bum look of wearing actual pj shorts in public}.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

    This article is just amazing.
I’m going to share sequinsarethenewblack.com on my facebook because my friends have to read it too.
BTW what do you think about Brexit? Is it good for Britain?

This is such a cute summer outfit! I love those shorts and how you’ve styled them with the pink accessories; I’m obsessing over those gladiators, they’re probably the cutest I’ve seen! I actually was a major tomboy growing up as well! I didn’t wear dresses or skirts, except for my school uniform skirt and on holidays when my mom made me, but it didn’t come without a fight, haha! I also hated wearing jewelry, too. I was ALWAYS outside playing with the boys; I grew up in the inner city of NYC, so there was always so much to do and enough trouble to get into, haha. Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!
